Are you superstitious?

Am I superstitious? No, because I believe that God is in control of everything. Superstition and faith may seem similar on the surface—they both involve belief in things unseen—but they are fundamentally different.

Superstition is rooted in the idea that certain objects, actions, or rituals have power over our lives, but that power only exists if we believe in it. It’s human-driven, based on fear and chance. If you think walking under a ladder brings bad luck, then you’ll see misfortunes as confirmation of that belief. But in reality, that ladder has no power—only the power you give it.

Faith, on the other hand, is rooted in truth. It’s not about luck or avoiding misfortune; it’s about trusting that God is in control. Their power doesn’t depend on whether I believe in it—it simply is. Unlike superstition, which leaves people anxious and trying to manipulate outcomes, faith brings peace, knowing that nothing happens outside of God’s plan.

Superstitions come and go, changing from culture to culture, but faith remains constant. I choose to trust in what is real, not in what only has power if I give it.
