What is one question you hate to be asked? Explain.
Ah, yes. The dreaded question. You’re at a family gathering, minding your own business, balancing a plate of food like a Jenga tower, when suddenly—BAM! Out of nowhere, someone drops the question.
“So, when are you having kids?”
Cue the awkward chuckle, the shift in eye contact, the sudden urge to fake a phone call and dramatically leave the room. Or to give a colorful response that will make them never want to ask anyone again. 😒
Look, I get it. Some people are just making conversation. But asking someone about their reproductive plans is like asking how much money they have in their bank account—it’s personal, intrusive, and honestly, none of your business. Maybe I don’t want kids. Maybe I do, but not right now. Maybe I can’t have them. Maybe my only current “baby” is the houseplant I’m desperately trying to keep alive.
Whatever the case, the decision to have children (or not) is deeply personal. So instead of putting people on the spot, let’s stick to safer small-talk topics—like the weather, or how my plate of food defies the laws of physics.
