Rich Auntie

My Precious Little Boy

In July 2024, I became an aunt to the cutest, most perfect little boy. I never imagined that I could love someone just for the simple fact that they exist. From day one, he has always greeted me with the warmest smile, melting away any anxieties, fears or concerns.

The first week that he was home from the hospital, I stayed with my sister to help her get adjusted. I was so proud of her as she quickly adjusted to taking care of her new little person. I had always viewed her as my little sister, that always needed my help, but I was now watching her transition into this beautiful, confident and intune mamabear. Her connection to her son, and her ability to anticipate his wants and needs was so amazing to witness. Although I know she had to be exhausted, we literally hadn’t slept in a week, even before he was born, she had a beautiful smile on her face that perfectly reflected the love I know she had in her heart for her son. She looked fearless and determined as she attended to his needs.

I just remember not being able to sleep being afraid I wouldn’t hear his cries, and constantly checking on him, while he lay in his crib to see if he was breathing. If he could talk, I am sure that he would have said “really lady! Can you let me lay in peace!”

When I see him, it just makes my day seeing his cute little smile when he recognizes me. Witnessing his first milestones: eating pureed food, sitting up, smiling with his whole face, hearing his giggles and shrieks of joy; his many facial expressions… I could talk about that kid all day!

I get to enjoy the milestones and witness his development. He talks so much, that I think he would have a very sucessful baby podcast channel! My sister tries to FaceTime a few times a week, so that he and I can “talk” together, and just to see his cute smile, is the perfect way to end my day!

Many people ask me does becoming an aunt make me want kids of my own…the answer is NO and I wish we could normalize not forcing children onto people lol. You never know someone’s situation/reasoning for the decisions that they make and the reality is, it’s not your business lol! To sum it up, as much as I love the little guy, I love being able to give him back to his parents and going on about my business. I am very happy with being “rich auntie” and will do whatever I can to support my little perfect guy!
